3. How many service copies are needed of documents filed with this court?

A. A. Several rules must be referenced to determine the number of service copies in civil cases. These include rules 8.212(c), and 8.44(b). The proof of service must show service of the copies.

Briefs in civil appeals (appellant's, respondent's, appellant's reply, and amicus curiae); Rehearing pleadings in civil cases (petition and answer treated like briefs (rule 8.10(7)) 1 Copy for each adverse party represented by separate counsel
1 Copy to the superior court clerk
5 Copies to the Supreme Court
Original writ pleadings (petition and answer (opposition), including separately bound exhibits/record) 1 Copy for each adverse party represented by separate counsel
1 Copy to the superior court clerk
Motion pleadings (motion and opposition or other response, rule 8.44(b), 8.54) 1 Copy for each adverse party represented by separate counsel
Extension applications and opposition (rule 8.44(b), 8.50) -- this court only accepts applications for extensions, not for augmentations or any other requests 1 Copy for each adverse party represented by separate counsel
1 Copy of application for client
