2-7. What is the Certificate of Interested Entities or Persons, and when do I file it?

A. Each party to a civil appeal or writ must complete a form, called a "Certificate of Interested Entities or Persons," to let the justices know of potential conflicts of interest. You must complete this form when you file your first document with the Court of Appeal. You also should include a copy of the document in your principal brief (including any petition for writ of mandate) after the cover and before the tables. (See Rules 8.208, 8.490(i), 8.494(c), 8.496(c) and 8.498(d).) You also have a responsibility to update this form if you learn of changed or additional information that must be disclosed. (Rule 8.208(e).)

B. For an electronic copy of the Certificate of Interested Entities or Persons (formatted either for Adobe Acrobat or Microsoft Word), click here.

C. There are no peremptory challenges for appellate justices.
