7. In a civil appeal, what are the requirements for filing an appendix or joint appendix filed in lieu of a clerk's transcript?

Rule 5.1, CRC, specifies the time for filing the notice of election to prepare an appendix, the content requirements, the arrangement and form of the appendix, etc. The appellant's appendix is due to be filed and served no later than the due date for the opening brief. A respondent's appendix may be served and filed no later than the respondent's brief. Rule 40 defines "serve and file". A brief filed in a court is to be accompanied by proof of prior service on all other parties. The original document is to be filed with this court. No additional copies are required.
