7. Extensions of Time Filing Requirements

Parties may stipulate to a 60-day extension in civil appeals pursuant to rule 8.212(b), Cal. Rules of Court.

All civil requests for extension must include the language as outlined in rule 8.212(b)(3), Cal. Rules of Court.

In a civil case, counsel must deliver to the client a copy of any stipulation or application to extend time that counsel files and attach evidence of such delivery to the stipulation or application, or certify in the stipulation or application that the copy has been delivered. (rule 8.60(f))

The rules require that all extension requests must be accompanied by self-addressed, stamped envelopes to mail copies of the order to all parties (rule 8.50(c)) as well as one additional copy of the application for each separately represented or unrepresented party (rule 8.44(b)(7)).

(See Cal. Rules of Court, rules 8.44, 8.50, 8.60, 8.63, and 8.212(b))
