Elkins Family Law Task Force
The Elkins Family Law Task Force, chaired by Associate Justice Laurie D. Zelon of the Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District (Los Angeles), was appointed in May 2008 to conduct a comprehensive review of family law proceedings and recommend to the Judicial Council of California proposals that will increase access to justice, ensure due process, and provide for more effective and consistent rules, policies, and procedures.

Update:
Following the extensive public comments, public hearings and public meetings, and comprehensive review of the family court process, the Elkins Family Law Task Force is finalizing its proposed recommendations to increase access to justice, ensure due process, and provide for more effective and consistent rules, policies, and procedures in family court. Recommendations will be presented at the meeting of the Judicial Council in April 2010.
The Elkins Family Law Task Force is grateful to the many people who have submitted written comments or who participated in the public input meeting, public hearings on the draft recommendations, and task force meetings. The active involvement of people who have experience in the family courts has informed the work of the Task Force and will assist in improving the final work product.
