California Community Justice Project Resources

Balanced and Restorative Justice: A Manual for California (PDF, 1,350 KB)
This manual catalogs balanced and restorative justice practices and model programs being used in California and around the country. It provides contact information for practitioners and descriptions of practices being followed in local communities. The manual is a resource for the courts, and it encourages judges and community stakeholders to develop collaborative partnerships that can help youth. The manual will be distributed to juvenile court presiding judges, court executive officers, and can be downloaded here. Restoring Justice, Accountability & Responsibility: A California Showcase Transfer of Knowledge Workshop (PDF, 6,865 KB)
This booklet is a report on the restorative justice transfer of knowledge workshop held June 9-11, 1999, in Berkeley, California. The report incorporates information and implementation strategies that can be replicated in courts throughout California and nationwide. It is intended not only to summarize the workshop proceedings but also to provide strategies both for building restorative justice principles into already existing programs and for developing new programs.

A Summary of the Evaluations of Six California Victim Offender Reconciliation Programs, Judicial Council of California (PDF, 398 KB)
This report to the California Legislature summarizes the results of six separate evaluations of Victim Offender Reconciliation Programs (VORPs) serving victims and their juvenile offenders in six California counties. The purpose of the report is to assess the efficacy of such programs.
