California Juvenile Statistical Abstract

Introduction

The Center for Families, Children & the Courts (CFCC) has begun a project to make statistical information about children and families in the courts and related institutions available on the Internet.

About the California Juvenile Statistical Abstract

The California Juvenile Statistical Abstract is a compilation of statewide data about children and families involved in the courts and with related institutions. It consists of representative, reliable statistics from a wide variety of governmental and nongovernmental sources. The CJSA will reproduce existing, published resources and disseminate unpublished data from the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) and other organizations. These data can be used for needs assessment, budgeting, program evaluation, grant writing, and other vital organizational functions. The CJSA will be available to the public and to court constituents on the Internet.

Features

  • Statistical tables of statewide data on juvenile dependency, juvenile delinquency, and family law as well as county-level demographic data
  • Narrative summaries of the data for easy access to broad findings and trends
  • Organizations contributing to the abstract to date: Judicial Council of California, Center for Social Services Research, California Board of Corrections, California Department of Justice, California Department of Education, California Department of Social Services, California Department of the Youth Authority, and California Department of Finance
