The California Supreme Court and Court of Appeal issue decisions on cases relating to children and families on a weekly and sometimes daily basis. Because of the constantly evolving nature of these legal areas and the lack of other resources devoted to juvenile law, we began summarizing select juvenile law cases in 1996. In late 1997, we began summarizing juvenile court cases when they were issued. Due to budget constraints and the variety of resources available online and in print, the Center for Families, Children & the Courts discontinued its practice of publishing summaries of juvenile court decisions effective March 10, 2003. This site includes summaries of three categories of cases: (1) delinquency, (2) dependency, and (3) other cases affecting children. This third category includes guardianship cases, criminal cases involving children, child-related mental health cases, and any other cases relating to or affecting children that we believe our users will be interested in knowing about. You can access these case summaries by clicking on the links above. You can search all HTML files for a word or phrase. If you want to search for a phrase, enter its most distinctive words and separate them by commas (for instance, you would search for "the Supreme Court of California" by entering "supreme, court"). You cannot search PDF files at this time. Send questions or comments to: CFCC@jud.ca.gov
