Innovations in the California Courts

This site introduces innovative programs that have been created by the California courts to address common problems, improve access to justice and optimize the use of judicial resources.

Included here are both local court programs that have been recognized with the Ralph N. Kleps Award for Improvement in the Administration of the Courts and statewide initiatives to modernize infrastructure and better serve court users.

What's New
The third edition of Innovations in the California Courts introduces the Kleps Award recipients for 2008-2009. It also describes ongoing programs to build a modern infrastructure and enhance the integrity, accountability and responsiveness of the judicial branch.

Kleps Award Program
The Ralph N. Kleps Award recognizes innovative contributions to judicial administration made by individual trial and appellate courts.

Statewide Initiatives
Centralized funding of the California courts has opened opportunities for branchwide infrastructure improvements and collaborative advances in branch accountability and responsiveness.
