Court Administration: Assistance for Self-Represented Litigants

Judicial Council and the Administrative Office of the Courts forms that you can print on any computer. Forms indicated as fillable may also be filled out electronically. Non-fillable versions of all forms are also available.

Because court procedures were designed for lawyers, the growing number of self-represented litigants presents challenges for the courts. The Judicial Council's Task Force on Self-Represented Litigants developed an action plan and funding to help the Administrative Office of the Courts:

  • Develop court-based self-help centers, which were found to be the optimum vehicle for processing cases involving self-represented litigants;
  • Design, budget, and incorporate effective strategies for managing such cases; and
  • Develop partnerships between the courts and other organizations to ensure comprehensive services for self-represented litigants.
