Statewide Judicial Initiatives

Infrastructure: Human Resources Initiatives

In 2001 the California trial courts became the employers of their staffs; in 2002 court interpreters gained the right to apply for employment with the courts. A number of programs exist to help courts fulfill their human resources responsibilities:

  • Labor and Employee Relations Services and Support Initiative
Offers help with managing labor relations.
  • Trial Court Benefits Program
Comprehensive and competitive health and benefits alternative for trial courts.
  • Judicial Branch Workers' Program
A self-insured system administered by a third party.
