Superior Court of California, County of Mono

New Mammoth Lakes Courthouse

Overview
This project will construct a new two-courtroom, 20,000 square foot courthouse for use by the Superior Court of California, County of Mono. The project will replace the currently leased two-courtroom South County Branch Courthouse in Mammoth Lakes, pictured above, which is inadequate for current community needs. The new courthouse will provide improved space for current services, provide space for new judicial services, and provide improved security and access for court services. The courthouse's design will include:

  • Two multi-purpose, jury-capable courtrooms that the court will use primarily for traffic, family, civil, and probate court services and occasionally for criminal and juvenile proceedings;
  • A jury deliberation room, judicial chambers, work areas for sheriff/justice partners, work areas for staff workers, an entry vestibule with security screening, a lobby and children’s waiting area, public toilets, and building support areas;
  • Parking for approximately forty courthouse visitors.

Judicial leaders, court personnel, Administrative Office of the Court (AOC) staff, County representatives, and Town of Mammoth Lakes, and County of Mono representatives have participated in development of the project. This project is funded by the State Court Facilities Construction Fund.
