Appellate and Trial Court Projects
Funding Requests for Fiscal Year 2008–2009
As directed by the Judicial Council, AOC staff submitted a total of 18 project funding requests—for 3 appellate courts and 15 trial courts—to the State Department of Finance in June 2007. These projects and their requested costs for either ongoing or initial phase(s) can be found in the latest Judicial Branch (AB 1473) Five Year Infrastructure Plan for fiscal year 2008–2009.

Links to the other 13 reports and fact sheets are provided in the next section, as they had been initially prepared to support previous fiscal year funding requests.

Judicial Branch (AB 1473) Five-Year Infrastructure Plan(June 2007)
The Judicial Council approved the first trial court capital-outlay plan in February 2004. In June 2005, a five-year plan for the entire Judicial Branch was developed, referencing all projects for the trial courts in addition to those for the appellate courts and for the offices of the AOC. The plan for FY 2008-2009 was approved by the Judicial Council in April 2007, and it includes an updated trial court capital-outlay plan of 175 new-construction, addition, and major renovation projects, as well as a summary of the FY 2008-2009 project funding requests submitted to the State Department of Finance. County Courthouse Construction Fund Forms (February 2006, PDF, 70 KB)
Procedures for use by counties when requesting to encumber or expend local Courthouse Construction Funds. Requests are reviewed by the Administrative Office of the Courts, and funds are intended for small construction projects in court facilities prior to their transfer.
California Trial Court Facilities Standards (April 2006, PDF, 6.9 MB)
These standards reflect best practices that will be applied to the design and construction of basic components of trial court buildings. The 2006 edition was developed using input from a variety of sources including experienced, knowledgeable individuals from courts, counties, architects, and engineers. This document supersedes the Trial Court Facilities Guidelines and Facility Guidelines for Technology in the Courthouse adopted in July 2002.
