What do I do if I get served with court forms?

  1. Get legal help as soon as possible! In many cases you only have 30 days to respond. For many hearings (like domestic violence or eviction cases) you only have a few days. The Free & Low Cost Legal Help section of this Self-Help Center will help you find people who can help you at little or no cost.
  2. Read the forms. Try to figure out what they are about.
  3. Take your forms with you when you go to ask for legal help.

How do I find the name and number of a court form?
Look at the very bottom of the form. Every Judicial Council form has the name and number at the bottom.
