Landlord/Tenant (Rental Housing) Links

How long does the tenant have to move, if the court rules for the landlord?

After the landlord gets a "writ of possession" and delivers it to the sheriff, the sheriff must serve it on the tenant or post it on the rental property. By law the tenant has 5 days after being served or having the notice posted on the property to leave the property. The notice will state the date and time that the sheriff is planning to remove the tenant. If the tenant leaves before that date and time, he or she will not be physically removed from the property by the sheriff.
