How Can I Change my Child's Name?

Most of the time, if you want to change your child's name, you have to file a Petition for a Change of Name. Click here for instructions.

But if you are involved in a family law case like child support or child custody, and there hasn't been a final judgment (opens in new window) yet, you can ask that the name be changed as part of the judgment. Click here for more information.

If you are a guardian of a child, not the child's parent, and want to change the child's name, click here.
