What Happens if the Other Parent Does Not Agree to Changing My Child's Name?

The judge will make a decision based of the best interests of your child. So the judge will listen to everything you and your child's other parent have to say, look at the facts in your situation, and decide what would be best for your child.

If the judge finds that it would be best for your child to change his/her name, then you will get the court order. If the judge finds that it would not be best for your child to change his or her name, then the judge will deny your request.
