Child Custody in Domestic Violence Cases

WARNING!Warning: People can tell what Internet sites you've visited on your computer. Be safe! Use the Internet at a local library, a friend's house, or at work.

If you have children with an abusive person, you can ask the court for a restraining order to protect you and your children. You can ask for custody, visitation, and child support orders at the same time.

If a judge sends you to mediation to decide on child custody and visitation issues and there's been domestic violence, you can take a support person with you. Also, you can ask to meet with the mediator separately. Click here to learn more about child custody mediation.
